ALP2 ASS2 Final Shoot

-The lamp is our main light, the strobe was used just as fill light and to create highlights in the food
-We used a 24-70mm at 35mm, we decided to use a wider angle in order to have space to crop. This posed the biggest problem as we are so used to shoot as we see it in our head so leaving space for crop kinda screws with our heads a little
-F11 even if we were directly over the subject we decided to shoot at F11 just in case
-When we metered for ambient we got F11, 1sec, iso200 so we shot at that. We used a few diff exposures but the this one gave use the mood we wanted
-Sort of, we used the lamp which was available...we could have used a strobe on a softbox but the lamp was diffusing the light properly so why not use it.
-Yes, more than enough.
-No using the modeling lamp was enough.
-Yeah, I had issues with WB in post, for some reason even if I used a grey card the wb from the grey card shot was giving me way too much red/yellow so I had to eyeball it in post.
-Gray card but again it didn't work and would really like to know why.
-1 strobe, 1 grid, 3 extension cords, 1 power bar, 1 light meter, 1 tripod, 1 grey card, 24-70mm
This shot was hard the food was not so pleasant to look at. Given more time i would have tried a few diff angles and a food stylist. i think the above the food shoot worked for this setup but again if given more time i would have played more. Although I think a closed bun shot of the burger taken from a lower angle would have given the burger a more powerful look especially if the in the background the lights of the place could be out of focus..

    ALP2 ASS1 Pre-light polaroid & diagram

    - The ambient will be mainly used as fill as my 2 strobes will be main
    - Since I am shooting table top and almost completely flat with the subject I believe my 70mm will work just fine but I will bring the 70-200mm incase
    - We decided to use F8 because it would make everything in focus. We took an ambient reading of 1sec, but having 2 strobes as main even if just using the modeling light we will probably need to shoot faster.
-Ambient is good but we need 2 strobes to put some mood and light the food properly
    -We have enough strobes
-Yes 2 strobes is more light then we need but it can be controlled
-The melting cheese could be an issue if not shot right or on time.
-Since we are using modeling lights and the ambient is tungsten a grey card will do.
-Tripod, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, profoto pack, 2 regular stands, 2 sand bags, 4 ext cords, grey card, ND filters, POL filter

    Other possibilities:

We think shooting tabletop and almost right above the subject will be best.

    ALP2 ASS1 Final Shoot

In the Prelight we had the strobe with umbrella high pointing down at the model, but in the final shoot we saw the light being too direct and flat so we lowered the strobe to about 6 feet and bounced it off the ceiling and this gave us even more diffusion.

-Same as prelight the ambient was not really showing up that much we still shot at 1/60th
-lense stayed the same although in post i wish i would have taken 10 minutes to really nail the camera position as i needed to do quite a bit of freetransform to make it look right.
-We still shot at 5.6 as the background didn't need to be that in focus
    -same shutter speed of 1/60th
-available light wasn't that much of a factor as in the prelight
-yes we had enough strobes although I whould have like to try putting another light in the back for her hair.
-the strobes were good for the shoot and not over powered
-the only technical problems were the camera position and focus, at 35mm and iso 400 i still find it a little soft even if focus was in the right spot
-white balance was okay just the ambient in that spot had 2 diff colored lights and it doesn't look too great.
-1 Profoto kit (two lights), 2 black light stands, 1 umbrella, 5 extension cords, 5 sand bags, 1 computer, 1 tripod, 1 light reader, 1 grey card, 2 green gels and 2 orange gels
